Refractory ores, cement, slag and ceramics that resist dissolution are best presented to XRF as glass beads. This system fuses up to 1200 °C in 4–8 Pt/Au crucibles, finishing a batch in 8–15 min. Flux can be tetraborate, metaborate or mixtures at 5:1 to 20:1 ratio, casting 32–40 mm beads.
