Protein in food and feed, and nitrogen in water, soil and fertiliser, are measured by Kjeldahl digestion in concentrated sulfuric acid. This block heats 6–40 tubes of 100–250 mL to 450 °C using multi-step ramping. Copper or selenium catalyst tablets with potassium sulfate are used. An exhaust manifold with scrubber handles acid fumes.
