Carbonation is usually checked on site by spraying indicator onto a fresh hole or fracture face. This kit supplies 2 × 250 mL of 1% phenolphthalein with a fine-mist sprayer, a Ø16 mm drill bit, chisel and hammer. The uncoloured zone is measured with a vernier depth gauge reading 0–50 mm in 0.02 mm steps.
