When only a few microlitres of sample exist, a conical micro-vial keeps it within reach of the needle. Capacities are 0.1–1.2 mL in glass or polypropylene, with 9 mm screw caps and PTFE-faced silicone septa. Dead volume is low, fused inserts are available, and openings come narrow or wide.
