Window sampling gives a continuous core to about 6 m where a rig cannot go, such as inside buildings. Steel tubes of 1 or 2 m and 50–100 mm diameter are driven by a 25 kg, 1.5 kW petrol breaker, and a full-length slot shows the soil for logging. A 10 t hydraulic jack pulls the tubes, and PE liners are available.
