Many emulsion specifications still state viscosity as an Engler degree. This viscometer flows 200 ml through a 2.9 mm platinum-tipped orifice from a gilt brass cup, and the ratio to water time gives the Engler degree. The bath heats from ambient to 100 °C at ± 0.2 °C with a built-in stirrer.
