Cement, gypsum, refractory and glass laboratories use this DTA to follow reactions up to 1600 °C. Thermocouples can be Type S, Type B or tungsten-rhenium, and larger 50–200 mg samples give strong signals for heterogeneous materials. Holders are available in alumina, platinum or graphite. Air, argon and nitrogen are standard, with vacuum as an option.
