Sub-ambient events such as ice melting, eutectics and elastomer glass transitions are the focus of this DTA. It runs from −150 to 500 °C using liquid nitrogen or a cascade cooler, cooling at up to 30 °C/min. Signal resolution is 0.05 °C for 10–100 mg samples. Nitrogen consumption is about 1–3 L/h, and a dry gas purge prevents frost.
