The classic first deflection experiment needs a stiff frame, accurate supports and readable gauges. This bench rig gives a span up to 1000 mm in 50 mm steps, with steel, brass and aluminium 25 × 6 mm beams and two 0–25 mm dial gauges reading to 0.01 mm. A fixed-end clamp is included, so cantilever and reciprocal theorem tests use the same frame.
