Differential settlement can add large moments to a continuous beam, and this rig shows how much from a few millimetres of movement. A 1500 mm beam runs over two or three spans on four 0–500 N load cell supports, each lowered by a micrometer screw over 0–10 mm in 0.01 mm steps. A 4-channel display reads reactions at 0.1 N.
