Porous and lightweight aggregates absorb air under pressure, so their air content must be measured by volume. A 2.1 L sample is rolled with water and alcohol in this spun aluminium meter, and the loss is read on a neck graduated 0–9% in 0.25% steps. Three clamps seal the top, and a calibrated cup and syringe are included.
