Entrained air protects concrete against freeze-thaw, but every extra percent also costs strength, so air content is checked on site against tight limits. We supply Type B pressure meters in ASTM and EN sizes, a digital pressure meter, a Type A water-column meter and a volumetric roll-a-meter for lightweight and porous aggregates. Aggregate type, the standard on your specification and how often you test decide the choice. Our meters are built for ASTM C231, ASTM C173 and BS EN 12350-7.

How to specify

Pressure meters suit normal-weight aggregate; use the volumetric method for lightweight or highly porous aggregate.
Calibrate the meter after any knock to the lid or gauge, and at least every three months.
Order a spare gasket and pump; worn seals are the usual cause of drifting readings.
