Soft soils on remote sites can still be profiled without engine or hydraulics. This hand-cranked machine pushes 25 kN through a reduction gearbox, driving a 10 cm² mantle cone with a friction jacket and reading forces on two gauges of 0–6 and 0–25 MPa. Four 1.2 m screw anchors take the reaction, and soft soils are typically probed to 10–15 m.
