Pervious concrete and permeable pavers drain far too fast for a standpipe, so infiltration is measured with an open ring. This kit uses a 300 mm PVC ring sealed with plumber's putty, with 3.6 kg prewetting water and an 18 kg test pour from graduated buckets. The pour time gives the infiltration rate in mm/h, as in ASTM C1701 and C1781.
