Peptide fingerprinting, polymer distributions and oligonucleotide QC need resolution that linear MALDI cannot give. In reflectron mode this instrument resolves at least 15000 FWHM at m/z 2500 with ≤5 ppm internal mass accuracy, and detects angiotensin II at ≤1 fmol. Lasers fire at up to 2 kHz, which also supports tissue imaging. Linear mode extends to m/z 500000.
