Clay dehydration, carbonate decomposition and cement reactions run well above DSC limits. This TGA-DTA reaches 1600 °C with Type S, B or tungsten-rhenium thermocouples, pairing a 0.1 µg balance with 0.5 °C DTA resolution. Larger 20–200 mg samples improve representativity for mineral powders. Crucibles are available in alumina, platinum or graphite.
