Sulphur mortar caps remain a low-cost way to give cylinders and cores flat, perpendicular ends. This set melts compound in a 4 L thermostatic pot heated to 200 °C by a 1.0 kW element. Machined Ø 150 mm and Ø 100 mm capping plates are flat within 0.05 mm, and a 250 mL stainless ladle is included.
