Qualifying a turbine oil takes thousands of hours, so the bath has to be dependable. Each tube holds 300 mL of oil with 60 mL of water and an iron-copper coil at 95 ± 0.2 °C, fed oxygen at 3 ± 0.1 L/h until acid number hits 2.0 mg KOH/g. Choose 4–12 tubes for runs of 1,000–10,000 h.
