A dynamic cone penetrometer gives a quick strength profile of subgrade and fill without a drill rig, and DCP index values correlate well with in-situ CBR. Our range runs from the classic 8 kg manual DCP and dual-mass versions to digital units that log depth automatically, light DPL probes and motorised super heavy probing rigs. Target depth, soil stiffness and how many test points per day decide which suits you. Equipment matches ASTM D6951, BS EN ISO 22476-2 and IS 4968 (Part 1).

How to specify

For pavement subgrade work, the 8 kg DCP to ASTM D6951 is the usual starting point.
Carry spare disposable cones if you test in gravel, as extraction often damages them.
Choose a digital DCP when one operator must log many points without an assistant.
