A plate load test measures bearing capacity and settlement or modulus of subgrade reaction directly on the formation, which no index test can replace. We supply manual hydraulic sets, digital systems with electronic displacement transducers, automatic load-maintaining units, lightweight DIN 18134 Ev2 testers and full ranges of bearing plates. Required load, plate size and how the results must be reported decide the package. Field engineers most often run these tests under IS 1888, BS 1377-9 or DIN 18134, and AASHTO T 222 for pavement work.

How to specify
- Plan the reaction first: a loaded truck, kentledge or anchor piles must exceed your maximum test load.
- Use at least three dial gauges or transducers so plate tilt can be detected.
- Have the jack and pressure gauge calibrated together as one system.
