The flexure formula predicts a linear stress profile, and gauging a beam through its depth lets students prove it. This aluminium T-section is loaded in four-point bending over 800 mm by a screw loader with a 0–2 kN load cell. Nine 120 Ω gauges read on a 10-channel indicator at 1 µε, and a 0.001 mm digital indicator measures mid-span deflection.
