Instead of waiting for lab results, an inline rheometer measures viscosity on the extruder itself and feeds a 4–20 mA or digital bus signal to the control system. A gear pump draws 0.5–20 cm³/min of melt through a measuring die at up to 500 bar. Viscosity range is 10–10⁵ Pa·s.
