Shales, mudstones and other clay-bearing rocks can break down quickly once wetted and dried, which affects cut slopes, embankment fill and tunnel linings. We build single-drum teaching units, the common twin-drum apparatus, four-drum models for higher output, a programmable unit with temperature-controlled water and a stainless model for brine and chemical fluids. Number of samples per day and the test fluid decide the choice. The drums and drive follow ASTM D4644 and IS 10050, and the units also serve wetting-drying work to ASTM D5313.
