Rock underground is confined, and strength rises sharply with confining stress, so triaxial tests give the Hoek-Brown and Mohr-Coulomb parameters used in tunnel and mine design. The Hoek cell does this without draining the cell between tests, which makes routine triaxial work quick. We offer cells for 38, 54 and 63.5 mm core, an instrumented cell with strain gauge lead-throughs and a servo pressure controller to hold confinement steady. Core size and maximum confining pressure decide the choice. Our cells are used for tests to ASTM D7012 and IS 13047.
