Hydraulic conductivity governs seepage under dams, drainage design and the performance of clay liners, so it has to be measured on the right soil with the right method. We supply constant head permeameters for sands, falling head sets for silts and clays, a combined IS-pattern apparatus, a flexible wall permeameter for liners and a large 300 mm permeameter for gravels. Soil type and expected permeability range decide which method fits. Typical references are ASTM D2434, ASTM D5084 and IS 2720 (Part 17).

How to specify
- Use constant head for sands and gravels and falling head for silts and clays.
- Permeameter diameter should be at least eight to twelve times the largest particle.
- Clay liner tests below 1 × 10⁻⁹ m/s need a flexible wall cell with back pressure.
