Sieving stops at 75 µm, so the silt and clay fractions that control frost susceptibility and classification are measured by sedimentation. We supply ASTM 152H soil hydrometers, a high-speed stirrer with baffled dispersion cup, a six-cylinder constant temperature bath, a sedimentation pipette apparatus and a complete hydrometer kit. Whether you work by hydrometer or pipette, and how many samples settle at once, decide the setup. All items suit ASTM D7928, BS 1377-2 or IS 2720 (Part 4).

How to specify
- Keep suspension temperature steady; a water bath avoids constant corrections.
- Use matched 1000 mL cylinders with the 1000 mL mark at 360 ± 20 mm.
- Order hydrometers with a calibration certificate for accredited work.
